Keep Your Laser Printers In Good Shape

It's a bit troublesome for some printer users to clean and refine their printers, may it be an inkjet printer or a laser printer, keeping your equipments in good shape is a task that every printer user must be practicing. Even if your not familiar with the proper steps of cleaning your printer, you may refer to the manual or the user guide that has been provided with the equipment that you bought. If you still can't follow the guidelines provided, and you're looking for a much easy way to do it, then let me give some of the basics and quite easy steps of refining your printers.

Since printers are of two types, therefore each may have a different way and strategies of cleaning. So for these article, it'll only focus on refining laser type of printers. Later on i'll try to provide some cleaning guides for inkjet type printer. This guide will be needing you to provide the following cleaning materials; 

• Brush, small enough to reach the hard parts of your printer
• Vacuum, hand-held or portable vacuum will do
• Damp and Dry piece of rag or cloth (should be anti static)
• Compressed air, though this may be optional since there are vacuums that can be reversible

Now to start, first unplugged and let your printer rest for half an hour or at least an hour if in case you just recently turned it off, this is to remove any static electricity from your printer components, and also remember that there are heat rollers inside that may cause burns if you don't let it cool for a minute.  

If you don't use it for quite a long time, then jump to the next step. Lift the printer cover to expose the toner tray, then gently grip the handle of the laser toner cartridges and slowly pull it out of the tray. Then set it aside, as you will also clean those cartridges later.

Turn your vacuum on, and start sucking out all the toners that build up inside your printer and any particles like dust and paper pieces that accumulated inside and every corner of your printer. You can also use the anti static dry cloth to wipe off any particle left overs.

Last thing would be cleaning your cartridges, if you're using Brother laser printers, Brother toner cartridges should be regularly check for any leaks or deformities if it needs to be replace. If you still find it useful and there's no problem with it, then you may clean the exterior of your cartridges using the anti static cloth. Now if you're done cleaning the cartridges, and satisfied cleaning your printer, then put it back to the cartridge tray of your printer then close the cover.
