A mid to higher level printing capacity, fast and can serve as a workgroup printer, technically a workhorse laser type printer, all these said qualities can be found with the all new Canon imageClass LBP7780cdn single-function color laser printer. It features a set of decent functionality, nice print speed and output quality that can matched up with some of the top editor's choice printer with similar feature.
The Canon imageClass LBP7780cdn comes with a very familiar combination of an off-black and off-white colored chassis, plus a distinct curve at its front edge, making it a little different among other box-shaped printers in terms of its design. It measures roughly about 15 x 20 x 20 inches (HxWxD), and weighs a bit bulky around 78 pounds, which makes it clear that a single person can't be able to move it alone.
With a paper handling capacity up to 600 sheets (standard), which includes a single main tray that can handle a maximum of 500 sheets, and an MP (multipurpose) tray having a capacity of 100 sheets max. The LBP7780cdn features an ADF (automatic-document-feeder) for duplex or double-sided printing. Well if you still can't get enough of its main tray capacity, you can extend it to a maximum of 1,100 sheets by purchasing the optional 500 sheets tray which can be purchased separately.
It doesn't feature a touchscreen LCD, instead there's a 5-line monochrome LCD display located on the printer's front panel. To the right of the display, a fixed USB port can be found which supports reading USB thumb drives for printing various files such as - JPEG, PDF, TIFF and XPS format, directly from their flash drive devices.Printout quality doesn't vary that much when compared to some of its competitor printer of the same type. When equipped with Canon laser toner cartridges, running costs may somehow be close to 1.8 cents for mono printing, while color printing will reach about 13 cents per printout.
Canon rated the LBP7780cdn printer with a print speed of up to 28 ppm (pages per minute) for duplex mode, and 33 ppm for its standard mono printing. Connectivity wise, the Canon imageClass LBP7780cdn can be connected to a PC unit either via USB or through Ethernet. With the Canon mobile printing app support, users with iOS devices can print directly through their devices to the printer. Other supported software and apps are included in the package or can be downloaded through their website, for maximum cloud printing experience.
All in all, a set of good features, decent print speed, ample paper handling capacity and solid printout quality, the Canon imageClass LBP7780cdn still makes it to the list of hard to beat laser printers.
