For today's featured printer, we've got a new addition to the growing family of imageClass series, the Canon Color imageClass MF8580cdw, a multifunction printer which makes a good fit for micro offices and small workgroups. Just like any other MFP printers, it serves as a pritner, scanner, copier and works as a standalone fax machine. With an average output quality and a decent speed which make the printer a tough contender in its class.
The MF8580cdw printer sports a combination of off-white and black coated chassis, has a dimension of (HWD) 17" x 19.1" x 18.9", and measures at approximately 68 pounds. It doesn't feature a full touchscreen LCD, instead a seven-line display surrounded with control buttons, plus an alphanumeric keypad on its right. This printer is capable of scanning in to two PCs through the two scan-labeled buttons on its front panel.
It features an automatic document feeder (ADF) for duplex or double-sided printing, which can handle 50 sheets of plain paper for printing, scanning, copying, and faxing multipage documents. Included in its paper handling interface is a standard main tray to hold 250 sheets, plus a 50-sheet multipurpose feeder. If you can't get enough of it, you can purchase the optional 250-sheet plain paper tray to max its capacity. Paper output supports a 125-sheet face down tray.
Connectivity interfaces include : high-speed USB connectivity, and a port just below the printer's front panel for reading USB flash drives, built-in Ethernet and WiFi support for either wired or wireless connection. Its laser toner cartridges yield approximately up to 3,400 pages with
the black toner, while the other three colors has a page-yield up to
2,900 pages.
The imageClass MF8580cdw is set to print in duplex (double-sided) as a default mode, so if you want to really save paper and toners, better keep it as it is. Switching from two-side to one-sided printing is definitely easy for a first time user, so you can switch anytime you needed. Canon rated the printer at a print speed of up to 21 ppm (one-sided) and 10 ppm (double-sided) printing.
As a color MFP printer, Canon Color imageClass MF8580cdw is a well rounder that offers a nice set of features for micro offices and small workgroups. However the price may be somewhat hefty, I won't state figures here, but guess it's considerable for a high-end color printer from Canon.
