Google finally launched the official Cloud Print Service and Driver for Windows OS. Although you might have used a third-party tool to allow printer sharing with your Windows PC, Google doesn't claim any support for it. Google only works in Chrome on Chrome OS, but with the update the service is rather not limited to Chrome alone. It is now compatible with Windows XP, Vista and Windows 7 OS given that Windows XPS Essentials Pack is installed on the PC.
Since the emergence of cloud-print-supported printers, such apps and tools appeared offering cloud printing services. Google knows the demand of their customers, hence they developed such improvement to offer better experience and show some boost with their product. Google Cloud Print allows anyone to share printers with others and virtually print from anywhere, as long as there's an Internet connection.
The update is still in beta, however you can now explore its potential by using it with your existing printers from school, office, house or anywhere. Through Google Cloud Print installed in your computer, the tool runs in background and connects your devices to your Google Cloud Print accounts.
With today's launch, this printer driver will now allow users to Cloud Print from any application there is on their computer. Sharing a printer to anyone can be done by simply providing them with a link. If you're familiar with Google Docs, the interface resembles the one when you're sharing a file to anyone by providing the link. As an admin, you can limit their access as well as the number of pages that they can only print. This is quite useful for schools that doesn't want their students wasting supplies such as black and color laser toner cartridges, ink cartridges and even paper materials. However it might not sound too essential for office and business establishments, but they can surely find and set their own rules.
Now that Google Cloud Print Service and Driver is officially available for Windows and which can be downloaded from Google Tools. It is known the Chrome is a web browser that a great number of people are using nowadays, that's precisely he reason why it got the feature first. However, it is quite intriguing that even knowing the fact that Windows is definitely the most used OS globally, rolling out this update took them so long.
