Thus, it's not surprising to know that cartridges cost more than the printer equipment.

There is a relationship between the price of the cartridge and its capacity. Newly bought printer equipment always come with a starter set of ink or toner cartridges which customers often claim that this starter cartridges are half full. But when you purchase new laser toner cartridges or ink cartridges for your printer, definitely you can't check if the cartridges are full even if you shake it. While you where looking for the printer supply shop, you past by a printer sale that only sells a model of printer for about $50, then you also saw the model of the cartridge for your printer, and when you check the price, the black cartridge sells for about $30 and the color cartridge sells for about $39, that's more than the price of the printer on sale. You would definitely think that it's more ideal to buy a new printer instead of purchasing the two cartridges you need for your old equipment.

Purchasing branded printer cartridges can be costly, and once their empty you'll just throw them off. Though we've been used to disposable materials and throw away things, there are still situations and exceptions that should be considered. Do you think that simply throwing away and disposing these small plastic containers would be good enough for the society. You may afford to always buy original cartridge replacement for you printer, but summing up all the expense will show you the real figure. This drives some printer cartridge consumers to purchase alternative products like remanufactured toner cartridges and ink cartridges, which can be risky only and if you buy from non reputable retailers. There are even consumers who tried using non-approved refill kits, which for them is a rational thing to do.
