Sometimes it's the PC's USB port from which you plugged the printer cable that causes you printer to be unrecognized. Ethernet cables has a tendency to get easily broken since the tip of it are made of plastics, especially those printers that are placed in some unstable areas.

Don't bother use substandard laser toner cartridges and ink cartridges, unless you want your printer to wear down easily. Regularly check your printer's consumables, even though you'll get a noticed whenever the ink runs low, it's best to have a routine of checking it so you can prepare ahead of time.
