According to Panasonic's news which was released recently, Panasonic equipment owners who use some of the latest scanner models from the said manufacturer, can now be able to add the scanning capability to their web-based applications, and that is simply with the help of EMC Captiva Cloud Toolkit. This toolkit is capable of doing the following ;
- Transforms web-based scanning support by eliminating browser and plug-in limitations.
- Enables developers to rapidly add scanning functionality to web-based applications through industry standards.
- Reduces overall cost of supporting distributed capture applications by simplifying deployment, providing wide compatibility and reducing ongoing maintenance cost.
- Fast adoption from scanner manufacturers and wide support for browsers and development platforms ensures "out of the box" support.
From the news release, Chris McLaughlin, Vice President of Channels and Alliances for the Information Intelligence Group division of EMC, he said, “By integrating the EMC Captiva Cloud toolkit, Panasonic continues to
deliver on its promise of bringing cutting edge technology to their
ever-expanding portfolio.” McLaughlin also added, “This alliance yields solid benefits for Panasonic scanner
users, seamlessly incorporating scanning into business processes or
services to deliver greater organizational efficiency.”
Thus in short, the EMC cloud-based scanning application is now compatible with all the latest Panasonic scanners available in the market. The said toolkit works with all standard web browsers which includes : Windows, Internet Explorer, Mozilla Firefox and Google Chrome. As a developer you'll find it useful to scan-enable those web-based business apps compatible with existing corporate web browsers and development environments.
The EMC Captiva Cloud Toolkit was actually released in the year 2011, a software development kit that was specifically built to allow web applications to directly access Panasonic scanners without the need for downloading or launching client software, as well as eliminating the limitations to a specific web browser.
