Since the emergence of mobile devices and smartphones that support printing and scanning over a network or through the cloud, several applications and software for the said printing option became available along with its success. As a matter of fact, Canon announced just recently the availability of its new app that caters mobile printing solution. This application will support BlackBerry smartphones, the Canon Direct Print and Scan for mobile.

The said application provides mobile printing and scanning capability for all BlackBerry smartphones users. Although first it requires integration of their smartphone with Canon imageRunner as well as imageRunner Advance.

Let's have a brief information about this new app from Canon :
Canon Direct Print and Scan for mobile, is actually a collaboration of two individual applications. One application called MEAP or Multifunctional Embedded Application Platform, that only runs on Canon MFP products that support imageRunner. The other one is a mobile client app that works on BlackBerry smartphones.

Together these two apps work as one and create a communication between a Canon printer and a BlackBerry smartphone. It allows users to print and scan to a multifunction printer, or scan files from an MFP to a  BlackBerry smartphone. An excellent on-the-go mobile printing solution for working peeps who's always on the go.

Sam Yoshida, Vice President and General Manager, Marketing, Business Imaging Solutions Group, Canon USA, stated : In today's highly mobile workplace users seek instant access to important documents without sacrificing print quality. The Canon Direct Print and Scan for Mobile application meets our customers' demands by coupling the ability to manage printing needs from your fingertips while achieving high-quality output results.

Through using this app, users may now print emails, files and photos from their BlackBerry smartphone to any Canon MFP printer that supports imageRunner, or scan documents to smartphones then manage it directly in the printer. Just make sure your device is equipped with full-levels of Canon ink or laser toner cartridges to avoid any problems when printing.
