How To Fix The No Toner Error On A Brother HL-3140CW Printer

Have you experienced a toner problem with your HL-3140CW printer? Or I think it’s better to ask, are you experiencing it right now, hence you’re looking for a solution. If both of your answers are yes, then you’ve come across the right blog. We’ll be discussing the “No Toner” issue that some printer users have encountered with their Brother printer.

What is this “No Toner” printer problem?

It typically occurs if and when a newly installed Brother HL-3170CW toner cartridge or laser drum unit is not properly placed or inserted. It’s also called unrecognized cartridge error, wherein the unit literally does not recognize the replacement item.

Is there a way to fix this issue?

Of course there is, remember that every problem has a solution. You just simply have to know the right approach on how to deal with it. What you need to do is very easy, a simple troubleshooting like remove here, install there, open and close it, something like that. To get that problem fix, follow the instructions provided below, and make sure you do it accordingly.

Before you start, there are things that you must prepare beforehand. These include towel rags, used paper sheets (newspaper will do), and hand gloves (rubber preferably).
  • Restart the unit, then turn it back on and see if the problem still appears. If it does, then you may proceed on the next steps.
  •  Open your printer’s top cover. See the image below as your guide on where to properly place your hand when opening the cover.
  • A prop on both sides will lock the cover keeping it open while you’re doing your thing inside the machine. Now remove the toner cartridges and drum unit assembly one at a time. Start with the one closest to the opening down to the last color.
  • To disassemble the cartridge from the drum, press down the green lock found at the center of the drum unit. Repeat this step until you’re done with all the other toners, place them on a table covered with newspapers to avoid toner spills.
  •  Inspect the drum units if there are debris of toner particles that might block the sensor chip or contacts which cause the error. Do this as well with the toner cartridges.
  •   Once done cleaning the items, slide the cartridges back to their corresponding drum unit and re-install them again to the printer. Match the color of drum to the same color label at the right side of each slot. Make sure you heard it lock in place before proceeding with the next cartridge, as we don’t want to get the same error.

When you’re done, double-check by pushing them down a little harder before closing the top cover. Restart the printer and see if the error has been fixed.
