Three Best Options To Recycle Printer Cartridges

Do you want to help save the environment profitably? I’m pretty sure most of you will say yes. Whenever money is involved, many could not resist the temptation admit it or not. But just a reminder, don’t let yourself be tempted by these incentives or amount that you can get in exchange of returning used cartridges. You should not make it as your motivation why you should consider joining a recycling program for printer supplies.

If you haven’t practice cartridge recycling, then check out this quick guide on how to recycle your printer’s empty consumables. Remember your goal here is to reduce waste and help protect the environment. The bonus here is that you can get considerably cheap toner cartridges and ink cartridges which are produced from used components. Well fine, you can also have some small rewards.

What are the options to recycle cartridges?

The Kindest

Consider as the kindest option of all the choices is by donating it to a charity organization. Let’s say you don’t need money and you just want to get rid of those cartridges through a good cause. If you don’t know any organization near your community, then make a research. Visit our friendly Google, type “printer cartridges for charity”, and there you have all the resources.

The Most Convenient

It is by sending them back to the retailer, shop, or store where you get those supplies. Ask your local retailer if they do accept empty cartridges so you can simply drop them off whenever you need to get a replacement. Also, determine what they do with those returned ink and toner cartridges. So you’ll know if they send it to their original manufacturers, or they just refill it. If their answer is the latter, I suggest you return it directly to its manufacturer by enrolling to their program. If they don’t accept, then perhaps they know where to recommend you.

The Profitable

Though it sounds too good to be true, users can return used print cartridges in exchange for cash. There are a lot of “We Buy” sites online or local stores that will gladly accept those empty cartridges of yours, and in return you get cash rewards. They can pay you $1 - $4 more or less for each empty toner or ink you surrender. But, there’s a certain limit to how many supplies a customer can sell, it may vary from 5-10 as maximum.

Right now, almost all the manufacturers in the print industry have their own cartridge recycling program both for inks and toners. Office supply companies as well are supporting these through placing drop-off recycling bins on their participating branches. Check the website of your printer brand and see if they could help you get rid of those empty consumables through reusing.
