Printer manufacturers are really getting smarter. HP printer manufacturer comes up of an idea of putting cartridge chip also called smart chip into their new inkjet cartridges and laser toner cartridges.
Most printer brand manufacturers are now using cartridge chip embedded to their ink and toner cartridges detecting the ink level and signaling an alert to the user that a new cartridge is needed to replace the empty cartridge. That is, when your current cartridge is about to reach its lowest ink level, a warning prompt or an alert message is displayed on the printer multifunctional screen.
HP toner and ink cartridges now comes with a cartridge chip that are now called as Intelligent Cartridges. Using this technology, cartridges have the ability to keep record of the number of pages that have been printed until the ink of your cartridge runs out. This intelligent cartridge can also give an estimated or a possible approximation of the number of pages that are left over.
Technology advancement also leads the user to some confusing functionality and problems on how to operate their new printer. Printer users finds these new model of equipments challenging, and more or less find these cartridge chips much of a problem instead of giving them ease. A draw back of this enhancement is that, even if your HP inkjet cartridges has actually some few more ink left, when the cartridge detects the ink level as low, it sets your printer into standstill and definitely stops the printing that is still ongoing or print no further.
Making such beliefs that when a user tries to replace the OEM cartridge with a remanufactured cartridge or a refilled cartridge, it could lead to problems like the printer not functioning or even damage the printer.
The major reason why HP manufacturer developed this technology of using cartridge chips, is to prevent their customers from using remanufactured cartridges and maintain their high profiting sales in the market.Luckily, printer users who still purchase remanufactured cartridges found a method to reset the chip, while others are purchasing remanufactured cartridges with replaced chips installed on the cartridge.
