Andy MulDowney's mPrinter : Portable Printer

Before, when mobile devices were introduce to the market, they are typically big in sizes and designs, but as time progresses these mobile devices started to shrink and became a small as palm-size tools. Portability is always an issue when it comes to technological devices, but for some manufactures it's typical to introduce a product from a bigger size then shrink it later for its upgraded version. You might as well notice it, enhanced products like for example a mobile phone or a printer comes in small sizes once the first introduced product clicks the market. One good example would be the Samsung SIII, which most of us for sure are aware that it really hits the masses, turning the iPhone sales down since it was launched. After the successful released of SIII, they consecutively followed it by launching the Samsung SIII mini, which is indeed more compact and portable. 

On the printing market industry, offices and businesses requires high-capacity printing, thus they need larger printer equipments to suffice their printing needs. Still, there are compact laser and inkjet printers that are available in the market that feature the same functions but has lesser capacity. Portable and compact printers are mostly preferred for home and personal printing use. There are also these small single function printers that work specifically just for a particular task. An example would be, Andy MulDowney's mPrinter, it was built mainly for printing dynamic snippets of information as well as capable of printing news, weather, tweets and small information. 

Andy MulDowney's mPrinter can be connected to any Wi-Fi capable device including mobile phones, tablets, iPads or iPhones, and any other device that supports Wi-Fi connectivity. Its concept of printing is quite similar to those used in check outs which is a thermal printer, unlike a typical laser printer that uses lasers and laser toner cartridges to create printouts. The mPrinter is a very low cost device that can be used to print snippets and some sort of small information.

Would you even believe that this small printer is actually made from a 3D printer? The mPrinter is aesthetically built with the use of 3D printing technology. A small and very portable printer that you can carry around to create printouts easily. Though it needs a few more final touches before it can be introduce to the market, and is said to be released around the month of February next year. While the man behind this device, Andy MulDowney, hopes for the best that his mPrinter will change people's lives by making it more easier and interesting for them to print using this portable printer.

Chocolates, an irresistible treat to a many and also a pleasant gift for your special someone. This delectable sweet has been rebirth and reinvented in so many ways and varieties from different countries around the world. From 2D Christmas Cards to 3D Gifts

Wrap something good this holiday and if you can't think of a new gift for this Christmas, well technology has a lot to offer. I'm not pertaining to cool gadgets, they're way too expensive for my budget, considering that we've got a long line of hands waiting for some gifts. Let's just say, we want something not that cheap neither not that too costly but it should be something new and unique. Everyone wants something new, unique and somewhat personalize. Then how about think of an idea or anything that relates to that person you want to send a gift, then ask someone who has the magic of turning your 2D drawn idea, into 3D.

With the power of 3D printing technology, we can now change our old time ways of thinking what gift could be perfect for our love ones. Christmas cards, it's given that we exchange greetings cards every Christmas season, though I doubt that some of you are still doing this considering a lot of things that our technology nowadays has to offer.

If you can't have a 3D printer, let's say you don't really need to have one but you want the idea of sending gifts that were made from your own ideas and concepts to your families and friends. 3D Printer Becomes More Reachable

3D printing technology, is almost reachable to the many, an amusement as it was once treated, are now use not just by big and well-known companies, but also by a few who managed to owned one and was able to create 3D printer materials. From the smallest toy stuffs, up to the largest bikes, racing cars and so on, that were made possible with the application of 3D printing technology. 

A consumer level 3D printer which has a price tag of about $2000, let's you bring home your own 3D printer together with all the excitement and flying objects inside your head that you're planning to make with this printer. It takes a data file of a 3D object and build it by pouring hot molten plastic filament layer by layer until the form of the desired object rises completely. It's like using a glue gun, where you let the glue stick heated until it becomes pliable enough to pour from the tip / nozzle of the gun. For now, the plastic filament used in most consumer level 3D printers has usually left bubbles on the surface of the printed object. 

There's also the so called Form 1 which sell for about $3000, developed by a group of graduates from MIT-Masachusettes Institute of Technology. It uses laser to draw on a liquid-plastic resin that hardens under a specific wavelength of light. It's quite similar to Phantom Geometry, from which wavelength from the laser hardens the light-sensitive resin each layer at a time.

According to Mark Richardson, a Monash University Industrial Design Lecturer, " resin models were best for prototypes, whereas plastic was better if you wanted real parts. "

3D printing technology will definitely lead to a more customizable future in the manufacturing and building industry, and as Mr. Ward said " it would be hard to bring it back down into the consumer price bracket. " Several innovations are quite amusing, like the use of titanium instead of plastic filaments, concretes to build houses, and nano size replicas of different famous structures in the world. 

With a basic knowledge of scanning and sending codes from a PC to the printer, anyone can create their own 3D printed objects in a day. The wonders of this technology has a long to way go, and that mystery will be unveiled soon. But one thing's for sure now, if you can't afford to have one of these amazing machine, then stick with what you have, anyway we've been used to laser types and inkjet printers for so long, what more can we ask for? I guest i can ask for a rollback on the price of printer consumables such as laser toner cartridges and ink cartridges that are getting more and more costly.

First Ever 3D Printing Consumer Trade Show

Technology changed the world, most changes were to improve, while others came up the other way around. Now our era will somehow be change once more, as 3D printing technology finally reaches the crowd. The world's first ever consumer 3D printer show entitled 3D Print Show, was held in the City of London a few days ago. There you'll find the most influential and big names in the industry of 3D printing, and a few interested consumers who happened to see a 3D printer in action for the first time.

In 3D printing, the process basically involves the use of  a special print-head that can create a three dimensional object by repeatedly adding layers on top of another layer base from the given CAD (computer aided design). With the engineers, it can be able to produce plastic models, miniatures, sculptures, and so on, depending on what the user designed. Using our playful minds, we can say like for example you broke a component or a particular part of your equipment, just visit the manufacturers website and they'll provide you the code you need to print a replacement. Isn't that a mind blowing, world changing idea? 

Industrial designers, programmers, and engineers are collaborating to bring the 3d printing technology to wider consumers. Good news cause if you can afford to own a Macbook for yourself, then i suggest you write the words "3D printer" on your list. The opportunity to see a 3D printer while it amazingly turns an image from the computer into its three dimensional form is definitely a jaw dropping experience. Too bad I wasn't able to attend the show, actually I have no opportunity at all.

MarketBot Industries, a 3yr old desktop 3D printer manufacturer was given a dedicated room. One of their known manufactured printer is MarketBot Replicator 2 which costs about £1,400. They opened their first retail store in Manhattan. 

Since 3D printers now reached the consumer price brackets could it possible that a high number of purchased will be expected before the year ends. CEO Bre Pettis, one of three co-founders of MarketBot Industries tells the audience, "This is the most exciting time ever to be an engineer, an industrial designer, an architect. This technology has arrived to the point where you can make the things you want. The electronics are there to support it... This whole idea of an industrial revolution where you had people move out of the cottage industries where they worked at home and they went to the factory where the machines were. All of us here, we've kind of put the factory into a little box. The factory can be one person at home again."

For those manufacturers, this can be a great opportunity for their profit margin, but the fact that these equipments are nonetheless producing plastic trinkets, a material from which we're struggling to get rid of use, in order to save our planet.Our landfills if not full by now, will soon be, with all those wastes mostly composed of plastic materials. Laser and inkjet printers, uses laser toner cartridges and ink cartridges,  unlike 3d printing technology that uses mainly plastic to produce output. The good thing about laser and inkjet printers is that, their consumables are now reprocess and recycled, producing remanufactured toner cartridges and ink cartridges which are environment friendly.

Anyway, back to the 3D print show, it was an awesome event that people won't regret coming over, with all the amusements and fashion show it featured, one thing's for sure, it can definitely change the world.
