3D Printing Technology has become a trending issue on the internet, as well as on the industry of printing, but with its price tag that surprisingly range from over $100,000 - this totally expensive equipment isn't just too easy to have. This technology has been existing for so many years, but only a few research labs and design studios were capable of having this 3D technology of printing.
For those who are not familiar of the process of 3D printing, it involves taking a digital model of an object, this can be accomplish via scanning, modeling though the use of imaging application, and so on, the image of the object which should be uploaded from a computer will then be uploaded to the 3D printer. Once the printer receives the image of the object, the nozzle of the printer will pour molten plastic materials layer by layer onto its platform, until the shape of the object from the image rises taking its form and springs to life.
In the case of a typical printer, such as laser printer and inkjet printer, these two types of printer uses ink cartridges and laser toner cartridges to produce a document. Whereas, 3D printer uses molten plastic materials, slowly poured layer by layer as thin as 1/10 of a millimeter, until it brings the image into life.
Panda Robotics, the company that developed PandaBot 3D Printer, plans to bring 3D printing technology to the masses. But introducing this kind of technology to the masses, wouldn't escaped the eyes of a million critics, controversies will pop up soon. Consumer manufacturers will be greatly affected once this printing technology becomes available to the masses. There's a logical idea that 3D printing could become a possible threat to copyrighting and patent law.
Once the consumer adoption of 3D printers happens, it would be a challenge to large companies, and big name manufacturers in the printing industry, such as HP, Canon, Dell, Brother, as well as their printer supplies. The fluctuating sales of print supplies like brother toner cartridges, and all other brands will also be threaten for sure. Though there were attempts and allegations about 3D printers are being used to create weapons for illegal purposes, then i think it wouldn't be that easy for them to bring it to the masses.
