Solutions To Clean Dried Ink Off Your Printer Head Nozzles

Reducing the volume of printouts is not the only proper solution for you to save on printing expense. The only main reason why you get all those costly issues from your equipment, is the expensive prices of printer supplies, mainly the laser toner cartridges and ink cartridges that you purchase. Printing less, will only solve a small portion of your problem, and using printers less frequent may just cause the nozzles of your printer cartridges to dry up. Hence, you need to create printouts using both the black and coloured cartridges at least twice a week. If you encounter having dried printer cartridges, then you can try two of these solutions below to solve the problem.

You should first know, that ink tanks don't actually have nozzles, thus allowing these methods to work only for cartridges with print head and ink tank in one. One good example is the HP print head which has a common ink tank and head. Other manufacturers such as Cannon, Epson, Brother toner cartridges, uses a separate ink tank and head unit. Remember, only do this methods at your own risk, cause it's more worth trying than purchasing a new one.

First, remove the cartridges from your printer, then check the nozzles for some ink that build up. To clean this part, you'll be needing a clean ear bud, to gently wipe off the ink residue on the nozzles. Thoroughly clean the nozzles by using a damp ear bud, that's slightly dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Do the wiping procedure gently and carefully, cause applying too much pressure may only cause the dried ink to completely penetrate into the nozzles. Now after you're done with the cleaning process, install it back to your printer equipment and check if it works.

If the first method doesn't work, we should always have a plan B. Prepare a small saucer, the size enough to contain small amount of warm water. Now dip the printer cartridge into the warm water, with the nozzles facing down the water. Just dip the nozzle part and not the whole cartridge, unless you want to totally damage it. This method will dampen the ink build up from the nozzles of your printer cartridge. An hour or two of dipping will be needed for this method, then you'll notice a coloration from the water that surrounds the nozzles. Let it rest more a few minutes more, then gently remove it from the saucer and wipe off the excess water from the nozzles. Check carefully if you totally wipe it dry, and there's no water residue from the whole cartridge. Now to see the result of your hard work, install it back to your printer and see if it can now work.
